FOBS Monthly News - January 2010

Good news. We have acquired Brandon Station - but it's only one-twelfth of the size! Ken Drane, our secretary, had a great Christmas present in the form of a model of the station made by his son-in-law. You will be able to see it at various exhibitions and events, including our next Film Show - if you are reading this before 7.30 pm on Friday 5th February, you are still in time to come along to Breckland Middle School and see it. The model has interior fittings as well - various sections are hinged so you can look inside and see the furniture, and the lights go on and off. We would like to have a perspex cover for it to keep it safe at exhibitions, but it may cost as much as £500 - any donations would be welcome. Mike Harris, our model expert, hopes to find some track and an engine to go with the station and make it a living model

At the end of January we had a safety briefing from Mike Franklin, a Network Rail executive whose job is to promote community projects. We now have a dozen or so people qualified to put on orange jackets and work on the piece of land opposite the Cambridge platform. Watch out for great things to happen here in 2010 !
