Oliver Cromwell - 11th March 2010
The historic London-Holt train headed by 70013 Oliver Cromwell passed Brandon a couple of minutes late at 11.21 on 11 March. Oliver was recovering strongly from what seemed to be a signal check just outside the station. Two lucky FOBS members were on the train, which would be the first to cross the restored level crossing at Sheringham later in the day. West Coast class 37 no 37516 brought up the rear.

A red-legged partridge did not live to see another dawn as it was struck by the train as it passed through the platform. May it rest in peace. There was a good crowd of photographers on the platform including one enthusiast who had come all the way from York just to see this train. Everyone was on edge in case the 11.20 Cambridge train came and spoiled their pictures, but in the end this train was itself a couple of minutes late and passed the special well up the straight towards Thetford.
